| 2026-06-17 | MINUTE entry before the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly: In person preliminary injunction hearing held on 6/17/2026. Oral argument heard and ruling made on the plaintiff's motion for preliminary injunction [28]. Plaintiff's motion for preliminary injunction [28] is granted for the reasons stated in open court. Preliminary Injunction Order to follow. The Clerk is directed to unseal all documents that were previously filed under seal. Law Firm Lance Liu is ordered to add all defendant names listed in the Schedule A to the docket within three business days. Instructions can be found on the court's website located at https://www.ilnd.uscourts.gov/_assets/_documents/_forms/_cmecf/pdfs/v60/Add_Terminate_Instructions.pdf. The parties are directed to file a joint status report with a proposed pretrial and discovery schedule by 7/8/2026. | 2026-06-11 | MINUTE entry before the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly: Defendant's motion to appear by telephone for the preliminary injunction hearing [37] is denied. The Court's setting of an in-person hearing had and has nothing to do with defense counsel's failure to appear at the hearing on June 8. Rather the Court set the hearing because it concluded that the matter involves complex issues that cannot practicably be addressed in a telephonic hearing. An in-person appearance is required. |

| 2026-05-16 | MINUTE entry before the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly: The Court advises that there was no need for plaintiff's motion to extend the TRO to be filed under seal and advises in advance that the motion for entry of a preliminary injunction and supporting materials may not be filed under seal as there is no legitimate basis to do so. Regardless, plaintiff's motion to extend the temporary restraining order 23 is granted; the ex parte TRO entered on 5/11/2026 is extended through 6/8/2026. The telephonic status and preliminary injunction hearing set for 5/26/2026 is vacated and reset to 6/8/2026 at 8:50 AM. The following call-in number will be used for the hearing: 650-479-3207; access code 2305-915-8729. Motion for preliminary injunction is to be filed by 6/3/2026. The Court may deny entry of a preliminary injunction if there is an insufficient interval between electronic service of summons and the preliminary injunction hearing. |
| 2026-05-15 | SUMMONS Issued (Court Participant) as to Defendant The Individuals, Corporations, Limited Liability Companies, Partnerships, and Unincorporated Associates Identified on Schedule A |
| 2026-05-14 | SEALED MOTION by Plaintiff Jianqun Zhang for Extension of the TRO |
| 2026-05-11 | SEALED ORDER: Signed by the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly on 5/11/2026. |
| 2026-05-11 | MINUTE entry before the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly: Plaintiff's ex parte motion for entry of a temporary restraining order, alternative service, and expedited discovery (etc.) 19 is granted. Enter Sealed Ex Parte Temporary Restraining Order. Telephonic preliminary injunction hearing is set for 5/26/2026 at 8:50 AM. The following call-in number will be used for the hearing: 650-479-3207; access code 2305-915-8729. Motion for preliminary injunction or motion to extend TRO is to be filed by 5/14/2026. The Court may deny entry of a preliminary injunction if there is an insufficient interval between electronic service of summons and the preliminary injunction hearing. Mailed notice. |
| 2026-05-11 | MINUTE entry before the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly: Plaintiff's counsel is advised that when filing motions and other papers, even if under seal, counsel must give them a title for the docket. Plaintiff keeps filing motions and entitling them within CMECF only as "sealed motion" or "sealed document," neither of which offers any clue regarding the nature of the filing. The title of the filing is not legitimately kept under seal. Henceforth the Court will strike any filings by plaintiff's counsel that do not include a title in the CMECF entry created by counsel. |
| 2026-04-28 | (Appendix Memorandum of Law) |
| 2026-04-18 | MINUTE entry before the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly: Plaintiff's motion for leave to file under seal 5 is granted. The show cause order entered by the Court on 4/3/2026 (dkt. 11) is vacated due to plaintiff's filing of an amended complaint naming only defendants with sales to Illinois predating the filing of the lawsuit. Plaintiff's previously filed motion for an ex parte temporary restraining order (etc.) 10 is denied without prejudice to refiling along with a proposed TRO naming only the current defendants. The in-person hearing set for 4/24/2026 is vacated. The case is set for a telephonic status hearing on 5/26/2026 at 8:55 AM, using call-in number 650-479-3207, access code 2305-915-8729. |

| 2026-04-03 | MINUTE entry before the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly: The plaintiff in this case has sued a number of defendants alleging infringement of a design patent and a trade dress. The complaint alleges generally that the defendants' online stores are capable of selling products to Illinois residents and shipping products to Illinois, but that is not enough for personal jurisdiction here. On that, plaintiff has provided documentation that appears to show that one can enter an Illinois address for delivery on the defendants' websites, but the documentation does not appear to reflect any actual or even confirmed (but later cancelled by the defendant) sales to Illinois; indeed on a number of the screenshots, someone has typed in that the product was sold out. The Court questions whether there is personal jurisdiction over any of the defendants and orders plaintiff to show cause in writing by 4/17/2026 why the case should not be dismissed for lack of personal jurisdic |
